Builds
I briefly owned a Polaris Rzr, and I'll write about that experience in a future blog post. After that, I decided to focus on my truck. My goal was to participate in Power Wagons in Moab (PWIM). This was in early 2020, and the COVID-19 situation was rapidly evolving. The PWIM event was repeatedly announced as happening, then canceled, leading to significant confusion. Originally, slots were available, but when the event was finally confirmed, all the slots were taken. So, I began exploring other off-roading opportunities in Moab.
Paintball Trip in the woods. Prior to discovering break
I discovered Full Size Invasion (FSI2020), an event with open registration. I signed up immediately. To prepare for FSI2020, I decided to take a trip to a Dirt Nation Offroad event. During that trip, which included camping, a Dirt Nation run, and a high-speed desert run, I damaged my lower shock mounts..
Dirt Nation Cleghorn Run 2020
When I discovered the damage, we were only two weeks away from the event! This was the beginning of a stressful two weeks. The lower shock mount brackets are welded onto the axle, not a bolt-on fix. To temporarily stabilize the front end, I applied a quick tack weld. Even though I had my car, I couldn't resist taking my new truck on the trail.
What the hecks, I always do something no one has before haha
I knew those temporary tack welds wouldn't withstand the harsh conditions of Moab, but I was determined to make it. I found heavy-duty shock mounts from TMR Customs (part linked here: [https://www.tmrcustoms.com/collections/brackets-tabs/products/axle-mount-shock-brackets]). TMR shipped the mounts quickly, which gave me just enough time to prep the truck. I cleaned up the damaged tabs and welded on the new, robust mounts. At that time, I wasn't active on social media, so I don't have any photos or videos of the repair work. It was all about getting it done, not showing it off. Those TMR Customs mounts are still on the truck today. Aside from body armor, this was the first significant upgrade to Seguro, and a very worthwhile one!
Bonus: A reoccurring theme with the Wagon, having to use the winch in times of need.
