 Under Development

Line Choice is a technical off-road Trading Card Game (TCG) developed by Seguro Offroad. Unlike traditional TCGs that use "health points," this game focuses on mechanical endurance, traction, and the strategic navigation of technical trails.

The goal is to be the first player to accumulate 20 Elevation Points (EP) or to force your opponent to Redline (run out of cards).

 1. Core Resources and Stats

Every Truck card is defined by two primary attributes that determine how well it handles the trail:

  • Torque: Your "Attack" stat. Used to meet or exceed the Difficulty Rating (DR) of obstacle cards to clear them.

  • Articulation: Your "Defense/Stability" stat. High articulation helps you avoid Technical Failures (like "Snapping a Shaft") and protects your parts from damage on rough terrain.

  • Momentum: The game's currency. You gain a base of 2 per turn and use it to play parts, trucks, or tactical "Line Choice" cards.

 2. Turn Structure

The game follows five distinct phases to simulate a real-world trail run:

  1. Inspection Phase: Draw a card and collect your Momentum.

  2. Garage Phase: Play your Truck, attach permanent Part Cards (Tires, Suspension, etc.), or use Support cards.

  3. Approach Phase: Commit your Truck to one of the face-up Obstacle Cards on the "Trail."

  4. The Burn Phase: Spend Momentum to activate abilities like Lockers or play instant "Line Choice" cards for a temporary stat boost.

  5. Recovery Phase: Check if you cleared the obstacle, collect EP, and resolve any Stuck mechanics.

 3. Obstacles and Trail Types

The game is played against an "Obstacle Deck" in the center of the field. Difficulty is tiered to match different rig builds:

  • Green Trails (DR 1-3): Easy, low-risk EP for "Stock" Tier 1 trucks.

  • Blue Trails (DR 4-7): Moderate difficulty; requires basic upgrades.

  • Black Diamond (DR 8-11): High risk; failing here can cause Body Damage, forcing you to discard part cards.

  • The Summit (DR 12+): Extreme difficulty. Failing "The Summit" results in a Total Loss, and your truck is discarded immediately.

 4. Key Mechanics

  • The Stuck Mechanic: If your Torque is lower than the Obstacle's DR, your truck becomes "Stuck." It stays on the trail and cannot return to the garage until you use recovery gear (like a Winch) or another player helps you.

  • Convoy Mode (Multiplayer): In 3–4 player games, you can use Trail Etiquette to "Spot" for other players, allowing you to split EP while making obstacles easier to clear.

  • In Line Choice, there is a critical distinction between a truck that is temporarily sidelined and one that is removed from play entirely.

    Stuck vs. Discarded

Status What Happens How it Ends?

  • Stuck: The Truck remains on the Obstacle Card. You cannot return to the Garage or attempt new lines with that rig. Recovered via Support Cards (Winch/Kinetic Rope) or a teammate in Convoy Mode.

  • Discarded The Truck is moved to the discard pile. All attached Part Cards are also lost. The rig is gone for the game unless you have a specific card that retrieves items from the discard pile.

When You Must Discard Your Truck

  • While getting "Stuck" is the most common setback, you must discard your truck in these three specific scenarios:
    1. The Summit (Total Loss): If you attempt an obstacle with a Difficulty Rating (DR) of 12+ and your Torque is lower than the DR, the result is a Total Loss. The truck is discarded immediately—the stakes are too high for a simple recovery.

    2. Tactical "Full Send": If you play certain high-risk Line Choice cards (like "Full Send") to get a massive temporary Torque boost, the card text usually dictates that the truck is discarded at the end of the turn, regardless of success.

    3. Voluntary Retirement: Because you can only have one active Truck on the field at a time, if your current rig is stuck and you have no way to recover it, you may choose to discard it during your Garage Phase to make room for a new truck from your hand.

  • When You Can Recover

  • If you are on Green, Blue, or Black Diamond trails (DR 1–11) and fail to meet the Torque requirement, you are merely Stuck.

  • Support Cards: You can play cards like a Winch during your Garage Phase to pull yourself off the ledge.

  • Trail Etiquette: In multiplayer Convoy Mode, another player can spend their turn/momentum to perform a Kinetic Recovery, helping you clear the obstacle in exchange for shared Elevation Points.

  •      Become a Playable Character

  • One of the most unique aspects of the game’s development is how the roster is built. New Character Cards are being added, and you have a chance to see your own rig in the deck:

  • Event Raffles: At every Seguro Offroad event, a special raffle is held for attendees.

  • The Prize: The winner of the raffle gets their own personal truck immortalized as a playable character in Line Choice, complete with custom stats based on their real-world build. (Build a Profile at Revkit.com)

The ideal number of unique cards depends on whether you are building a starter deck or a full standard deck, as well as the mechanical constraints of the Redline rule.

1. Minimum Deck Size (The Starter Threshold)

For a basic, playable experience (like the Sonoran Crawler starter), a deck consists of 20 cards. However, because the game includes a "Redline" mechanic—where you immediately lose if you run out of cards—a 20-card deck is considered high-risk and is best suited for quick, introductory games.

2. Standard Playable Deck

For a standard competitive match, the recommended deck size is 40 cards. To ensure this deck is functional across different trail types, it should ideally include a variety of unique cards across these four categories:

  • Trucks (The Core): You only have 1 active truck at a time, but your deck should contain a mix of Tier 1 (Stock), Tier 2 (Trail Built), and Tier 3 (Rock Bouncer) rigs to handle different Obstacle Difficulties.

  • Parts & Support: These are essential for survival. You can have up to 3 Part Cards attached to a truck at once (e.g., Tires, Suspension, and Gearing).

  • Line Choice Cards (Tactics): These are "instants" used during the Burn Phase to provide temporary boosts.

  • The Unique Exception: Each deck is limited to 1 Unique (Prototype) card, which typically has game-changing abilities like "Rear Steer."

3. Strategic Distribution

To make the game "playable" rather than just a pile of cards, the Official Guidelines suggest the following unique card distribution:

  • 20-30% Tier 1 Trucks: For early "Elevation Point" farming.

  • 40-50% Tier 2 Trucks: Your primary workhorses for Blue Trails.

  • 10-20% Tier 3 Trucks: Heavy hitters for the Black Diamond or The Summit finishes.
