My off-roading adventure began in late 2019 when I decided to purchase a new vehicle. Since leaving the Army, I had only owned used compact cars, ranging from a 2002 Kia Rio to my 2007 Nissan Versa. In 2015, I began hiking new areas of Arizona, which naturally led to mountain biking. By late 2019, I was frequently driving my Nissan Versa, with a bike rack, to remote hiking trails. While car shopping, Jeep's marketing caught my attention. However, I also considered the vehicle's potential uses, and the truck's tow rating ultimately influenced my decision to purchase a Ram.

This is where Alex's and Seguro's paths crossed. Growing up, my family—father, brother, uncles, neighbors—always named our vehicles. A few months into ownership, I began thinking of a name for my new truck. I considered how I felt driving it, exploring more challenging trails. I ultimately named the truck 'Seguro,' the Spanish adjective for 'sure' or 'safe.' That's exactly how I feel when I drive Seguro—safe and sure.

Our adventures expanded, and we soon found ourselves venturing to California, Utah, and Nevada to wheel with like-minded individuals. Due to Seguro's large size, I struggled to find local Arizona groups that would accommodate me. This led me to connect with Dirt Nation Offroad, Full Size Invasion, Red Rock Ram Rally, and numerous other groups. Safety meant wheeling with another vehicle, rather than solo, so I had to travel hundreds of miles to find acceptance and safe off-roading opportunities. If something went wrong, no one would know where I was.

Through my experiences, I observed that I wasn't the only one finding it difficult to off-road with established groups. From Jeeps and Toyotas to Suzukis and more, each group often has rigid expectations for what an off-roader should be. If you don't fit that mold, you're often excluded. This is where the concept of Seguro Offroad was born.

At Seguro Offroad, I want to create a welcoming platform for new off-road enthusiasts. You don't need a seventy-thousand-dollar Jeep or pickup to off-road. You don't need a rig with tens of thousands of dollars in suspension to have a great time and explore. Through my adventures and volunteering, we offer guided services where you can bring your four-wheel-drive vehicle and learn to navigate various terrains. We have gained extensive knowledge and can guide you through mentally challenging obstacles, and in worst-case scenarios, assist with winch operations.

Every vehicle is different, and not every vehicle can tackle highly rated trails. Also, trails change seasonally due to flash floods, monsoons, and natural decay. This impacts trail difficulty and the paths you must take. Arizona is notorious for desert overgrowth that scratches vehicles. This is known as Arizona pinstriping. If you prefer adventures with fewer scratches, we can tailor experiences to your liking. Alternatively, if you want to experience challenging trails but don't have a suitable vehicle or want to risk your own, we offer 'tours' where you can rent seats in Seguro. We'll take you to see a side of Arizona that's often overlooked.
